Gentilly is one of New Orleans’ most vibrant communities and home to over twenty individual neighborhoods, four universities and three commercial thoroughfares, yet it is disproportionately underserved in its retail needs.
With the creation of a business association, the businesses and stakeholders will take the lead in promoting the vibrant economic culture and assets in Gentilly.
The association can promote business retention, increase the amenities, and decrease the volume of blight and vacant commercial property. All of these efforts will help to keep more revenue circulating within the community. In order to accomplish this goal, The Louisiana Weekly and LANO have partnered and are reaching out to Gentilly businesses and stakeholders. LANO has received funding from Capital One Bank to support the creation of this association. With help from community partners, businesses and stakeholders, we believe a business association will have a positive impact on the neighborhood.
